Travel

• The nearest airport is Nuremberg.
  
• At the airport, take subway Line 2 towards the main train station (Hauptbahnhof).
• There is a frequent train connection between Nuremberg and Bayreuth (see "Journey by Train").

• Go to the suburban train station (S-Bahn) "Besucherpark" or "Flughafen/Terminal 1 und 2" and take the Line S1 (direction: Ostbahnhof) or S8 (direction: Herrsching). Exit the train at the stop „München Hauptbahnhof“ (Munich Main Train Station).
• Another possibility is to take a bus to the main train station (click here for further information).
• From Munich Main Train Station, take a train to „Nürnberg Hauptbahnhof“ (Nuremberg Main Train Station).
• There is a frequent train connection between Nuremberg and Bayreuth (see "Journey by Train").

• Go from the airport terminals to Frankfurt Fernbahnhof (see map).
• From there, take a train to „Nürnberg Hauptbahnhof“ (Nuremberg Main Train Station).

• There is a train each hour from Nuremburg to Bayreuth.
• The departure times and tracks are found on the yellow train plans in the train station. Possible train connections can also be found here.
• Please note: Sometimes, the train to Bayreuth is divided in the town of Pegnitz. One part goes to Bayreuth and the other one to Hof. Make sure to be on the correct part of the train (on the car and above the doors inside, you should see the direction "Bayreuth").

• Bayreuth is connected to the long-distance coach network.
• Information and tickets e.g. at busticket.de, www.fernbusse.de oder www.busliniensuche.de.

Bayreuth is located directly at the motorway A9 Nürnberg - Berlin.

• Take the exit "Bayreuth Süd".
• Follow the signs "Bayreuth" - "Bayreuth Zentrum" - "Universität".
• Turn left into the premises of the university and then immediately to the right.
• Follow the street and turn right after 50 meters into the parking lot. Leave your car here. 
• Walk on in the same direction and follow the left curve to the bus stop "Mensa". Now you are only a few minutes away from the summer university's course office in building GW1, room S90. Just take the way uphill towards the entrance of the dining hall (Mensa).

• Upon arrival in Bayreuth, leave the train station through the main entrance and use the crosswalk to get to the other side of the road.
• Go to the left, until you are right in front of the "Löwenapotheke" at the bus stop. The bus stop sign has a large green “H” on it enclosed in green and yellow circles.
• You can take different buses to ZOH (the Central Bus Station): Line 303 (direction: "Bayreuth Reha-Klinik"), Line 305 (direction: "Meyernberg Nord") or Line 309 (direction: "Meyernberg Süd").
• You can buy the ticket from the driver. It is valid to the university and costs EUR 1.90.
• Get off the bus at the ZOH.
• Take the Line 306 (direction: "Campus") or the Line 304 (direction: "Birken - Universität").
• When you get off the bus at the bus stop „Mensa“, you are only a few minutes away from the summer university's course office in building GW1, room S90. Just take the way uphill towards the entrance of the dining hall (Mensa).

The last bus from the named bus stop to the campus leaves at 8.00 pm. If you arrive at the Bayreuth train station after 8.00 pm, you can take the Line 321 or 322 (direction: "Bayreuth ZOH"). These buses stop in front of the train station. If you arrive late, taking a taxi to the university may be a reasonable alternative.

There are taxis waiting at the train station. Tell the driver that you want to go to the "Mensa der Universität". The ride costs arround 7.50 €.
