The University of Bayreuth
13.400 students, more than 150 degree programmes, one location – these are the basic statistics of this university.
The University of Bayreuth is one of the youngest universities in Germany. Since it was founded in 1975, it has become a renowned institution where international co-operation plays a very important role.
Individual tutoring, high standards of performance and focussing on professional perspectives characterise what the courses offer. These range from language, literature and cultural sciences to law and business courses to natural sciences and engineering.
The Bayreuth University campus is located close to the city centre in the south of Bayreuth and is a popular place for students, during and outwith the lecturing times. Everything is in close proximity: faculties, the library, the dining hall and sports facilities are located around the centre of the campus.
The University of Bayreuth is easy to get around and stands out positively when its ratio of lecturers to students is compared with the "mass universities". Students and lecturers know each other personally, lending the campus a very intimate and agreeable atmosphere. This can also be attributed to the modern architecture of the faculties with their bright and large rooms, which always provide a view of the campus park or the green court yards of the buildings.
The library contains a vast range of books, which Summer University students are able to use. National and international newspapers are also available in one of the many reading rooms.
From Monday to Friday, you may choose from different menus and a great variety of salads in the dining hall. The cafeteria provides you with small and larger snacks as well as hot and cold beverages throughout the day. The "Frischraum" offers a lunch menu as well as dinner.
